The Initiative

This apprenticeship is suitable for organisations of all sizes in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Business administrators are employed in almost every type of organisation from small local businesses to large national employers because effective administration underpins all business activity.
The overall aim of the role is to support different parts of the organisation and interact with internal and external customers. Typical focus areas include preparing and updating documents and reports, maintaining accurate records and data, arranging meetings and events, using digital tools and systems, and supporting small projects or improvement activities.

Duration:

Typically 12–18 months of training plus an additional end-point assessment period.
If an apprentice does not already hold Level 2 English and maths (or equivalent), they will need to achieve these before taking the end-point assessment.

Delivery Model

  • Hybrid delivery using classroom sessions and/or online webinars (subject to cohort and employer needs).
  • Monthly one-to-one mentoring and tutoring to support the application of knowledge, skills and behaviours in the workplace.

The Guidelines

Occupational standards serve as the foundation for apprenticeship standards. An occupational standard is a concise document that sets out the key duties of the role and the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) required to carry them out competently, along with any mandatory qualifications and, where relevant, alignment to professional recognition.
